Art Gallery

I designed a three story art museum filled with contemporary art. This architectural building consists of multiple staircases leading to different levels and rooms for people to explore. On the side of this building, I created a semicircle with a curved ramp for people to walk on and look at art. I wanted to create a simplistic and modern art gallery so I kept the entire building white to make each artwork stand out. I designed each of the benches and pedestals and placed them in appropriate spots for an art museum.

Gathering Moments

pastel pencil on craft paper

This is an observational drawing of objects that I have received as gifts from loved ones. I wanted to use pastel pencils to bring out the colorful tones each object has. The Chinese knots on the top left were gifts from my mom to decorate my room. The jade bracelet is also an artifact that my mom gifted to me. The small decorative toys were all items that I received from my friends as a gift. This piece showcases my gratitude towards these items as I vividly remember they’re from loved ones.

Deciding Fate

2023oil paint on canvas

I named this painting Deciding Fate to capture the concept of destiny. Inspired by the late board game nights I would spend with my family, I wanted to show my wonder at my future and the elements that are involved in deciding what happens. A little bit of desire, choice, and luck allows for the things that unfold.

Structure Study

2024bristol paper on illustration board
This is an art piece made of bristol and multimedia paper cut and glued to make the illusion of a 3D building. I designed this interior and exterior space while playing with the shapes to change how the shadows look under the light. I wanted to show how the structure could change with different shadows affecting the paper. The upper figure represents how the design looks during daytime while the bottom figure represents nighttime. I made three main spaces to try and create a sense of depth and the feeling of a continuous building.

Drawing My Blues Away

This is an observational drawing of a cafe that recently opened in my town. I frequently visit this cafe to study with my friends or to eat delicious pastries. I used cross hatching and stippling to bring out the dark values in this piece. The perspective was difficult to get at first since it’s a piece coming from my view.

Floating Memories

18 in x 24 in2023oil paint on canvasMy piece, ‘Floating Memories’ illustrates my dream of going back in time to experience memorable moments with my friends. I painted this silly moment of my friends hanging out in a brown monochromatic motif to express a photographic feeling of the past, while the dreamy bubbles indicate my wish for these fleeting moments to last forever.

Still Life

15 in x 18 in2024graphite on paper
This art piece is an observational drawing of many objects placed together. I wanted to experiment with how light can affect the shadows and reflections of these objects, especially the crystal paperweight and the bottle. I emphasized the shadows around the light bulb to match the contrast in values that I observed. make the brightest part of the piece pop out. With all the lights and darks in each object, it creates a well contrasted piece to showcase how light can manipulate everything.

Falling Into My Thoughts

18 in x 24 in2023oil paint on canvas
I painted this self-portrait to show the dichotomy of my appearance on the outside versus what may be happening on the inside. Although I may appear serene, internally I could be overwhelmed with disorienting feelings which are displayed on the painting within my painting.

Lost in Dreams

2023colored pencil on paper

This art piece is an imagination of how my dreams and thoughts are all scattered around. I want to express that being alone in an enclosed space allows all the thoughts in my mind to be released. The use of light pastel colors is to show how hazy my thoughts are. The bubble figure floating above me represents my alternate self lost in my subconsciousness.
